Model Description
This model documents the condition of the ceiling painting of the Great Hall (Carlonesaal) in the Ansbach Residence, before its current restoration by the Bavarian Palace Administration (2022-2026). The specially for the restoration work erected free-standing scaffolding allowed for close access to the ceiling painting from just 2 meters away. To take advantage of this unique access, a new semi-automated method called CHAPI was developed as part of the ANR-DFG-Project plafond3D. The high-resolution image of the fresco provides for further art historical and restoration studies.
