This Privacy Policy describes how the 3D Repository / DFG 3D‑Viewer ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our service hosted at the Hochschule Mainz and maintained by the ZIK (Center for Information and Communication Technology) of the same institution.
This policy applies to all visitors and registered users. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

A. Information You Provide
When you register or contribute content, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Institutional affiliation
- Content metadata you enter: authorship, licenses, descriptions
B. Information Collected Automatically
We automatically collect during visits:
- IP address
- Country
- Browser type and version
- Device type, OS, screen resolution
- Language preference
- Performance metrics (load time, DOM processing)
- Pages visited, time spent, referrals
This uses the Drupal “Visitors” module, storing analytics locally with no external tracking scripts.
C. Logs & Monitoring
Drupal error logs include technical details and timestamps. Anonymous users remain unidentified; for authenticated users, usernames may appear.
3. How We Use Your Information
We process data to:
- Run and maintain the repository
- Monitor site performance
- Analyze usage in aggregate form
- Manage user accounts/contributions
- Ensure security and prevent abuse
- Fulfill legal obligations
We do not sell or share your data with marketers.
4. Recipients of Your Information
We may share your data with:
- Architecture Institute at Hochschule Mainz
- ZIK at Hochschule Mainz (host & IT support)
- Service providers for maintenance
- Authorities, if required by law
No data is shared with commercial advertisers.

From your profile, you may:

- Request data deletion

Essential cookies support site functionality; no third-party tracking cookies are used.
We use time-based server-side caching (up to 6 hours) for certain views to improve performance without personalized tracking.

9. Public Data Access and API
We publish XML export endpoints for public entries, enabling integration with the DFG 3D-Viewer service.
Future integration with aggregators like German Digital Library, or Europeana and via the DFG 3D‑Viewer framework is underway and noted here when available.

However, no system is fully secure. Avoid sharing sensitive personal data.
