Model Description

The synagogue in Połaniec was established in the mid-18th century at 5 Mielecka Street in Połaniec in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodship. It was a wooden two-story building, built on a rectangular plan with a hip roof. The part intended for horses was on the first floor, separated from the part for men by an openwork wall. The main hall was built on a rectangular plan, its partitions and the vault were covered with colorful polychromes referring to tent vaults. In 1943, it was destroyed, but the synagogue was reconstructed on the basis of available sources. Currently, it is available to visitors in the open-air museum in Sanok. The project dedicated to the digital reconstruction of the Synagogue in Połaniec, carried out by the Institute of Architecture at the Hochschule Mainz in cooperation with students from the Lodz University of Technology, is an important element that disseminates knowledge and memory on a local and global scale, using modern methods of digital reconstruction of the destroyed cultural heritage.
